No. There are no contracts with BottleLess Direct. You purchase the complete system for as low as $399. Then, all you need to do is change the water purification cartridges every 6 or 12 months (depending on how busy your office is).

  • 1. Choose Your BottleLess Direct Cooler. The complete BottleLess Cooler system costs only $399 ($449 for the stainless model). BottleLess Direct coolers come with everything you need – the purification system, installation kit and step-by-step instructions. You can use our online shopping cart, or you can order over the phone by calling 888-253-9101. We will ship out our cooler within 1 to 2 business days of your order. It will be delivered to you via UPS. Shipping times vary – but it’s typically about 3 to 5 business days from ship date.

  • 2. Your Cooler Gets Installed. You can either install the cooler yourself – or we can have it done for you. Step-by-step instructions are provided with every order. Please see our installation page for more information.

  • 3. Drink Delicious, Pure Water! BottleLess Direct coolers are designed to be maintenance free. All you need to do is change the twist-off filtration system. Each filter is certified for 1,200 gallons, and most companies change the cartridges every 6 months.

Included in the cost of the cooler is everything you need:

  • 1. the cooler (of course)

  • 2. your twist-off micron purification

  • 3. the installation kit, including 25 feet of waterway and saddle valve (which gets the water from your pipe to the coolers waterway), and step-by-step instructions

Each filter change will cost you $49.95. So, if you change the filters twice a year, it’ll cost you $99.90/year.

Here are a few points that may help answer this question:

STAINLESS STEEL WATER CONTACT SURFACES: Once your water is purified, it goes into a sealed cold or hot reservoir inside the cooler. These internal water contact surfaces are made of 304a stainless steel. Stainless steel is the best material to keep your water pure and cold.

BACK UP SAFETY: Another very important feature of our cooler is a back-up safety water shut off. To explain, after the water is purified, it goes into the sealed, stainless steel cold reservoir inside the cooler. When filled, it trips a float which shuts off the water. If that float were to fail, our coolers have a secondary float as a backup. If the second float were to trip, it shuts off water to the cooler. Water can only start flowing again if the reset button is pressed.

CERTIFICATIONS: All coolers are Energy Star Rated. They come sealed and sanitized from the factory. Our factory is ISO 9002 certified and the coolers have CSA US electrical certification.

SAVINGS: If you look at your 5-year cost of owning a BottleLess cooler versus renting a bottleLess cooler from another company, we will usually save you about 60%. We don’t lease the coolers because we believe that purchasing a well made, self-maintained cooler is better. Once the cooler is set up, there’s really not much to do except change the filters. Why pay all that extra money?

Incredible savings: The average rental for a bottleLess cooler will cost you at least $39.95 per month. Over 5 years, you’ll pay them almost $2,400. But, what do you get for that money? No contracts: Companies that rent bottleLess coolers require you to sign long-term, binding contracts. Often, they finance your lease – which means that they get paid up front. What happens if they go out of business? You’re still obligated for the payments but they’re not around to service your cooler.

Cooler FAQs

Yes. There is a hot tank on/off switch on the back of our coolers.

Our coolers are already in tens of thousands of businesses. They are designed for heavy commercial use. You should expect the cooler to last at least 5-7 years. Having stainless steel water contact surfaces in the cooler is probably the most important factor in determining the longevity of our cooler.

The cooler purifies the water on demand, so the amount of water should not be an issue for a large company. You will still be able to get unlimited quantities of pure water, but if a long line of people use to cooler immediately after one another, the water may not be chilled optimally. For this reason, we recommend that you have one cooler per 25-30 people, but that can vary by consumption.

Cold Water: BottleLess Direct coolers use a top quality, quiet convection-cooled condenser. This condenser is an internal, spring-mounted, hermetically-sealed compressor with automatic overload protector. No lubrication is needed, and the refrigerant is controlled accurately by a capillary tube. The temperature is controlled by an adjustable thermostat with an 'off' position that is easily accessible on the rear of the unit. The temperature of the cold water dispensed is typically between 40 and 44 degrees. To rate cold water capacity/recovery, there is an “apples to apples” test used by the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI). In a room that is 70 degrees, you measure how many 3-ounce cups of <50 degree water per hour. BottleLess Direct coolers provide 53 cups in a 70 degree room.

Hot Water: The 520 watt heating element ensures precise temperature control. The cooler can provide 45 6-ounce cups of 180+ degree water per hour. The cooler comes with a hot tank on/off switch for locations who do not want instant hot water.

No. It just plugs into a regular electrical outlet. It has a 3-prong plug (like a coffee maker).

We keep statistics on our "defect rate". For the 2011 calendar year, our defect rate is only .37% - not even 1/2 of 1%. BottleLess Direct coolers are built well and made to last.

Our coolers do not require a drain. Instead, the coolers come with a drip tray. With 14 million bottled water coolers installed across the USA, most people know by now that the drip tray is not a drain. Once you put your cup under the faucet, most people know to let go of the faucet before removing their cup. For those who drip, the tray is removable and dishwasher-safe.

Purification FAQs

The Twist-Off one-micron purification system is incredibly powerful (1 micron is 100 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair). It is independently certified for 1,200 gallons of use for chlorine, lead, cysts, bad taste and odor reduction – that’s like drinking 240 of those big five-gallon bottles. Specifically, it is a one-micron, block, granular activated carbon filter with lead reduction media. This filter has been tested to NSF performance Standard 42 and Standard 53. Our filters undergo rigorous testing and independent verification for performance. Each filter is rated at .5 gpm with a maximum pressure of 125 psi and a maximum temperature of 100º F. Class 1 filtration media.

We regret that we are only certified to purify potable water. So, if your water is contaminated, we would recommend that you get a more significant water treatment system.

Most municipal water costs about 1 penny for 4 gallons. So, if you are replacing 7 five-gallon bottles of water a month you were drinking with your previous bottled water cooler with a bottleLess cooler, your municipal water bill will go up about .09 cents. So, the answer is yes – around $1.08 cents per year. But remember, you’re also subtracting the cost of the bottled water you were buying, plus delivery, cooler rental costs, and the environmental impact of all that wasted plastic!

Yes! Most likely, you’re already drinking purified water. The majority of bottled water is just purified tap water. Most people choose bottled water for the perceived purity and the better taste. If you look at purified water compared to typical bottled water, there little difference in purity. When people say they don’t like the taste of tap water, it’s usually because of the chlorine in the water. We remove that and other chemicals, bad taste, and odor. So, your water will be pure and delicious, and much less expensive.

Our Standard Micron Purification system leaves the beneficial minerals (magnesium, potassium, etc.) in your water. Minerals are what gives water its “flavor”. The first stage removes all particles 20 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. The second stage enhances the flavor and purity by removing chlorine, lead, and other harmful chemicals that produce bad taste. Basically, after the water goes through our purification system, you’re just left with H20 and minerals. The cooler purifies the water as you drink it.

We do also offer another purification system called Reverse Osmosis. Reverse Osmosis removes about 90% of the minerals in your water in addition to everything that Micron Purification does. Most regions in the USA do not require this technology – it is mainly beneficial in areas where the municipal water supply has very high concentrations of salt. This system is an additional $199/cooler and takes a little longer to install because it has to be tied to a drain. Reverse Osmosis installations, unlike micron filtration, require access to a sink.

Installation FAQs

Yes! And we’ll help you every step of the way. All BottleLess Direct coolers include an installation kit, 25′ feet of flexible waterway, and step-by-step installation instructions. The installation of a bottleLess cooler requires no pipe cutting, no copper piping or soldering, and no need to turn off the water.

Installing an BottleLess Direct cooler is very similar to hooking up an automatic ice maker in your refrigerator. For most customers, it takes less than an hour. Your new cooler will arrive with everything you need to get set up, including step-by-step instructions. If you opt to install the cooler yourself and then change your mind later, you can always request one of our installers to come and install it for you. A typical installation takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

The kit that we include is suitable for a majority of our customer’s installations. If there are instances where additional supplies are needed, it’s primarily when the water source is more than 25′ feet from the bottleLess cooler. In this situation, you would need to purchase additional length of waterway. We sell 25′ foot sections of 1/4″ waterway in our Shop, or you can get it at any hardware store.

It is easiest the install your new bottleLess cooler when it is in the same room (or near) the water source, but it absolutely doesn’t have to be. Our step-by-step instructional videos teach you how to get the waterway from a water source to the cooler, whether it’s in the same room or not. Please note that the coolers come with 25′ feet of waterway. So, if you are more than 25′ feet away, make sure you get extra waterways from our shopping cart.

If you have one of our technicians install the cooler, they can run the waterway into a different room if necessary. Please note, however, that extremely long distances may require an additional cost for the installation.

The waterway is only 1/4-inch. It is the same waterway used in tens of thousands of ice-makers (in refrigerators) and in automatic coffee brewers.

The flexible waterways that we use are made specifically for the drinking water industry and are incredibly strong. All installation kits include 25’ feet of 1/4” waterway. This commercial grade waterway is certified for 230-PSI water pressure and has a burst pressure of 3X that amount. There are less expensive waterways but BottleLess Direct doesn’t sell them. Yes. You will receive access to installation videos which will show you everything from connecting to your water source to “snaking” the waterways inside the walls to setting up your cooler.

Yes. You can purchase something called “wire mold”. Wire mold is perfect for concealing your waterways, but is also used for hiding wires and cables. Self-adhesive backing makes for easy installation. You can find wire mold at any hardware store. It comes in various lengths (4′ feet, 5′ feet, etc.).

Our coolers are designed to be ‘plug and play’. If you are replacing an existing bottleLess cooler, the waterways are already where you need them so most of the work is done! Just attach the new BottleLess Direct cooler to the existing waterways as per our set up instructions. It couldn’t be easier!

Maintenance FAQs

Most issues that may arise can be fixed with a quick troubleshooting call to the office, chat, or email to our customer service department. However, if you want a technician to come out and take care of your cooler, it’s no problem to arrange. Service calls are $99, and are completed by a member of our national net­work of pro­fes­sional, cer­ti­fied installers.

BottleLess Direct coolers are designed to be virtually maintenance-free. All you have to do is change the filters. The Twist-Off Purification System is the ultimate user-friendly filter on the market. Replacement of the cartridges is completed in a matter of seconds – simply detach the filter body from the permanent head with a twist of the wrist. The new filter cartridge is just as easily replaced by threading it into the head. The Twist-Off system automatically turns the supply water off when the cartridge is disconnected from the head. No drips. No hassles.

The Twist-Off micron purification system is certified for 1,200 gallons. That’s like drinking 240 of those five-gallon bottles of water! However, we recommend that the filters are changed every 6 months for most offices. If your cooler is in a home, then once a year should suffice. We will send you a filter change reminder every six months.

The one-piece drip tray just lifts out in seconds. It’s molded for durability and is dishwasher safe. So, just stick it in the dishwasher or wash it by hand.

You will not be charged sales tax. We are an internet-based company and therefore are not required to collect sales tax.

The cooler comes in a 48′ x 15′ x 15′ inch box and weighs 42 pounds It’s expensive to ship. To keep things simple, we charge a flat rate of $49 per cooler for UPS Ground.

We normally ship your cooler the day after you place your order. You should expect 3 – 6 business days for delivery once your item is shipped. Please note that, in most instances, each cooler will require that two boxes be shipped. One will come from the West Coast and will contain the cooler. The other box will come from the East Coast and will contain your purification system, the installation kit and other ancillary products that you purchased. So, please understand that, most likely, the two boxes will arrive on different days.
